Pre-age care

Pre-age care

Pre-retirement benefits are very similar to old-age pensions. In 2024, people born in 1959

will reach their retirement age. This date brings a big change for those receiving care before

the age limit, including in terms of work.

In view of the amended rules, as of January 1, 2012, they were continued to be paid as pre-

retirement benefits (e.g. old-age pension brought forward based on long service) until the

person concerned reaches retirement age, which is not considered retirement benefit.

In addition to the payment of benefits before the age limit, it is possible to continue earning

up to a certain amount. This annual income limit is eighteen times the minimum wage, HUF

4,802,400 in 2024. If the person named reaches retirement age in the calendar year, the

earnings limit no longer applies to him.

From the moment of reaching the retirement age, the pre-retirement benefit is paid as an

old-age pension, with which you can continue to work without any restrictions.

By working in addition to pre-retirement benefits, the person concerned earns service time

based on the payment of contributions.

If, during the period of payment of pre-retirement benefits, the person receiving benefits

accrues at least 365 days of service from the date of reaching the old-age pension age, from

which date the pre-retirement benefits will already be received as an old-age pension, you

can request that your old-age pension be re-established. The length of service required for

re-determination can be obtained between January 1, 2012 and the day before reaching the

retirement age.

An employer's termination of an employee receiving benefits before the retirement age

must be justified according to the general rules, and if he meets the eligibility conditions, he

may be entitled to severance pay, or even to an increased amount of severance pay based

on his age if he reaches retirement age within five years.
